Bible verse of the day... Luke 17:3 (NIV)

So watch yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. Luke 17:3 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

There are instances which our friends, brothers, sisters or anyone sin against us. For example, my brother borrowed my car few days ago and he accidentally damaged it. At first, I was shocked and upset because it was a brand new car. How could he possibly allowed that to happened in the first place! He apologized and I explained to him that what he did was a lesson for him. I told him to be more careful every time he drives. I forgive him for what he did. I'm also glad that nothing bad had happened to him and to our cousins who were with him. I must say that it takes a while to overcome things but I've learned to forgive and I thank God for the protection He gave to my brother and cousins. I hope each and everyone of us must be able to forgive others who hurt us. I think it is good to sleep at night when no one hates us.

Bible verse of the day...Jeremiah 2:28 (NIV)

Where then are the gods you made for yourselves? Let them come if they can save you when you are in trouble! For you have as many gods as you have towns, O Judah. Jeremiah 2:28 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

Many people around the world worship different kinds of gods. Most them are man-made. God is telling us that He is the only true God. In times of trouble He is the only we can turn to. He made everything and therefore, it is only He who can save us. So, why should we worship any false God?

Bible verse of the day...Daniel 2: 27-28 (NIV)

Daniel replied, "No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. Daniel 2:27-28 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

God has His way of things. We may not be able to fathom it but He always find ways that reveals His glory or wisdom. I'm in a situation which makes me wonder what will happen to me in the future. But then, I always tell myself that God knows what He is doing. In the future He will reveal the reasons why things seemed so complicated. He is an all knowing God, so, I just have to hang on and see the wonders He can make.

Bible verse of the day...James 2:26 (NIV)

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. James 2:26 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

I think it is important for a man to do something even though he has faith. What I'm saying here is that, for instance, if an individual would want to pass an exam he would not only pray to God that he would pass it. But rather he also needs to study in order to pass the exam. The same with our faith. We may have faith in God but we have do something about that faith. Like, doing good deeds towards others, attending worship service, reading the bible and meditate the words of God. I think that is what this memory verse is all about.

Bible verse of the day...Mark 8:36 (NIV)

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Mark 8:36(NIV)

My reflection of the verse

I think this verse is simple to understand. We can be the richest man alive but yet when we die we would not have the crown of gold. It is not bad to be rich but I think God is simply telling us that we can not bring any cent when we die. No matter how many billions you have you won't be able to bring them with you in the next life. What is more important is having an eternal life and be with God when we die.

Bible verse of the day...Genesis 2:24 (NIV)

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Genesis 2:24 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

If a man marries a woman he should live with his wife until both of them have children and grows old. God knows that it will be best for them if they live on their own house while starting a family. I think the reason for this is to avoid conflicts with in-laws and for the couple to learn how to deal with their own problems or learn how to live a married life. It's not also ideal if the couple live with their respective families because there is an idiom that says "familiarity breeds contempt". The respect for families should always be there and God doesn't want couple to break just because of family issues. Rather God wants couples to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Bible verse of the day...Acts 2:23 (NIV)

"[Jesus] was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him on the cross". Acts 2:23 (NIV)

My reflection on the verse

Jesus was crucified because of our sins. He gave His own son for us to have salvation. If God didn't do that I wonder what will happen to us. We are sinners and many of us does not change or turn from their wicked ways. I hope they would realized that God is always ready to receive us despite our shortcomings. There are three things we should do to be totally saved and they are as follows:(1.)ask God for forgiveness; (2.)turn from evil ways or don't do the same things over and over again; and (3.) accept Jesus as our personal savior. I think Jesus dying on the cross is one of the best gifts God has given to man.

Bible verse of the day...Isaiah 2:22 (NIV)

Stop trusting in man, who has but a breathe in his nostrils. Of what account is he? Isaiah 2:22 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

The verse tells us that we should trust God alone because He would never fail us. No matter how sinful we are still He is there for us and willing to forgive us. Man is an imperfect being and there are times that he fails. But God is not. He is our creator and there is no way He would abandoned us. That is why I trust Him with all my life.

Bible verse of the day...Joel 2:21 (NIV)

Be not afraid, O land; be glad and rejoice. Surely the LORD has done great things. Joel 2:21 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

As people of God we should not be fearful because our Lord God Almighty will bless us. He has done many wonderful things on our daily lives and whatever trials that come along the way we can overcome it. We maybe in a difficult situation and we think there is no way we can solve it. Then, we become afraid to face it. But we should remember that we have a loving God who will help us and can do miracles for us.

Bible verse of the day...Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

Galatians 2:20 is a memory verse that I won't forget because it's the verse of the day on my birthday few years ago. As a Christian, I live by faith and I let God control my life. I want Him to lead the way for me. Whatever I do or plan I always include God because everything that I have and will have comes from Him. I also cannot live without God by my side.

Bible verse of the day...Hebrews 13:2 (NIV)

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

This verse reminds me of many instances where God sent His angels that helped me in different ways. One instance when I was applying for the board exam. I have no idea what to do first and I was nervous because I didn't want to commit any mistakes in the application form. So, while I was falling in line, I was praying to God to help me. Then, all of a sudden there was this lady who was looking at me and asked me if it was my first time to take the board exam and I replied yes. In short, she told me to write this and that...so, I just wrote what she told me to write. Then, another lady told me to go here and there ...giving me directions and I just followed. The next thing I knew, I was done with my application. Everything happened so fast that I realized that God sent angels to helped me get through the application process. I was so grateful to Him after that and much more grateful when I got the result of the exam.
This memory verse tells us that we should not be afraid of talking or helping strangers because we never know if it was sent by God to guide us or assist us in difficult situations in life. God loves us so dearly that He would do anything to help us. I thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this verse.

Bible verse of the day...Genesis 2:18 (NIV)

The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. Genesis 2:18 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

God knew that Adam needs a partner. So, He created Eve from the rib of Adam. [Genesis 2:22] This act of God tells us that we need a partner (wife or husband) or a friend whom we can lean on. Someone to share with our hopes, dreams, fears, and of course love. Someone you can trust or can make you laugh. It is important to have a family and friends to share with all the blessings that God has given us. Surely we cannot live alone.

Bible verse of the day...Isaiah 2:17-18 (NIV)

The arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day, the idols will totally disappear. Isaiah 2:17-18 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

Humility is the appropriate term that can be used for purposes of reflection on this verse. It is a word that is not practiced by many because of pride. God wants us to humble ourselves in His presence and exalt His name in every situation in our lives. He is also telling us that we should not pray and worship idols. We should worship Him alone because He is a living and true God.

Bible verse of the day....Malachi 2:16 (NIV)

"I hate divorce, " says the LORD God of Israel,..."So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith." Malachi 2:16 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

Our God is a jealous God and He doesn't want us to be separated from Him. He want us to focus our lives with Him, love Him, worship Him and serve Him only. We should stay faithful to Him and doesn't want us to serve any other gods or false god. I thank God for this wonderful verse.

Bible verse of the day...Philippians2:14-15 (NIV)

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe. Philippians 2:14-15 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

It is best if we obey God's commandments even though it's tough. In our time today, we can see that there are so many deceptions and the enemy of God is working over time. We need to do what is just, righteous and pleasing in His eyes. There are many situations in our lives that we cannot understand why things happen. But like what this verse is saying let us do what is right without complaining because everything that is happening in our lives has a reason. We may not be able to see it at present but eventually we will see why things has to happen. We should not also conform with the ways of this world because we are God's people and we ought to follow Him always.

Bible verse of the day... Habakkuk 2:14 (NIV)

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

Etymology of the word knowledge came from Middle English knowlege, from knowlechen to acknowledge, irregular form knowen. It is applicable to facts or ideas that are acquired by study, investigation, observation or experience.[from Merriam Webster Dictionary] Based on this definition, the verse speaks of knowledge that is revealed about God. We can never deny the existence of God and the commandments He gave us. It is sad to know that there are people who ridicule God or doesn't acknowledge His presence in their lives. But rather continue to do things that are not pleasing to Him. I pray that their hearts and minds be touched by God. So that they may see the wonders He has made and learn how to respect Him including the people and things He created.

Bible verse of the day...Joel 2:13 (NIV)

Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Joel 2:13 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

Many times I failed the Lord and many times I have suffered the consequences of my actions. I have sinned against Him even in my thoughts especially when I'm upset or angry on something or at someone. But I regret it because I should be more patient and more understanding. Most of the time I asked Jesus to forgive me. This verse is telling us that we should return to God every time we fail or sin against Him. He is a forgiving God and doesn't want us to suffer because of our sinful ways. I hope all of us will be like Him, i.e. loving, forgiving, compassionate and slow in anger.

Bible verse of the day...Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

My reflection on the verse

This is my favorite verse of all time. There was a time when I was so depressed and doesn't really know what to do with my life. I saw this verse while I was on my way home. It was like God was talking to me because there were so many thoughts in my mind. I was confused and scared of what will happen tomorrow. I trusted God and every time I need strength and encouragement I look on to this verse. God is a great God. He let me out of depression and He gave me many blessings. He gave me gifts that I could not imagine having or receiving. He wanted me to move on and doesn't want me to worry. I trust Him and I will always hold on to His words.

Bible verse of the day...Proverbs 2:11 (NIV)

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. Proverbs 2:11 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

When speak of discretion, it means ability to make responsible decision or judgment and understanding means our ability to comprehend. The words protect and guard are synonymous. Having these in mind, Jesus is telling us that if we make sound decisions in life, whatever it might be, and understanding the circumstances of that decision it will spare us from harm. For instance, if I decided to stay faithful with God for the rest of life and obey His commandments, by time I die, I know I will be with Him in paradise. That decision would spare me from the fires of hell. This memory verse is an assurance that anyone who makes right or just decisions is protected from harm or ruin.

Bible verse of the day...Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advanced for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

We are made and designed by God to do what is right and good. He knows that every man has a good side and is able to accomplish his mission in life. As Christians, we should always do what God commands us to do and be able to serve Him all the days of our lives. Doing good works includes loving our neighbors, helping others who are in need, praying for the sick & lost, and most of all proclaiming God's words to those who doesn't know Him. We are God's laborer, so, we should not fail Him no matter what.

Bible verse of the day...Habakkuk 2:9 (NIV)

" Woe to him who build his realm by unjust gain to set his nest on high, to escape the clutches of ruin!" Habakkuk 2:9 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

I think this verse is telling me that we should not think of personal gain or profit alone. We should always be just in whatever we do. We should be considerate of others and not to step on others just to be top. There are people who are greedy and wanted to have power, wealth and others. But I think these are all vanity. I can not bring any of that to my Father's house except the great things I did which gave honor and glory to His name.

Bible verse of the day...Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - - not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

We are saved because God made it possible. Without His divine grace I don't know what will happen to us all. We should be thankful that through His son, Jesus Christ, we have salvation. We can never be save by our good deeds alone but by accepting Jesus in our lives. It is great to know that there is a loving God who made us.

Bible verse of the day...Genesis 2:7 (NIV)

...the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Genesis 2:7 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

We all came from dust and when die we will go back the way we were created. God created us and gave us life on earth. We should be grateful to Him because we were given the chance to experience life. Life here on earth is not perfect but at least we are learning so many things while living. I think this is the best gift God has given me...and that is simply being alive and free.

Bible verse of the day...Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

I've received Jesus Christ as my personal savior long time ago and I'm still learning from His words. It is difficult to live as a Christian because there are many trials that comes along the way. The more I proclaim my faith , the more problems I face. But even things are very tough and sometimes I feel like I want to give up. I talk to Jesus and He reminds me not to fear anything but to hold on to Him. Then, I end up singing with thanksgiving.

Bible verse of the day...Philippians 2:5-6 (NIV)

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped... Philippians 2:5-6 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

We should imitate the ways of Jesus because He being God came on earth to serve us and even die for us on the cross. This verse is about humility again. Many of us failed to be humble before God. We do things our way and tend to forget serving God. I believe that one of our purposes in life is to serve God and become a blessing for others.

Sunday, February 3, 2008

Bible verse of the day...Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV)

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - - it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

I believe that through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we can be saved and have eternal life. He is my personal savior and without Him dying on the cross there can be no salvation for all humanity. Indeed, God is a loving God and cares for us even though we are sinners. I pray that everyone accepts Jesus as their savior because there is no way to have salvation but through Him.

Saturday, February 2, 2008

Bible verse of the day...Philippians 2:3 (NIV)

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Philippians 2:3 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse

I agree with what scripture is saying that be humble and not to think of yourself greater than others. Many times I've encountered people who thought of others lesser than them because they have finished two degrees or such. These people treat others rudely and cannot accept that someone is richer or more intelligent than them. I pity these kind of people because they didn't know that everything they have are from God. It is merely a privilege and God can take that from them any time He wants to. He gave them that position or status because He wants them to serve their purpose. Unfortunately, there are people who take advantage of it and does not use it for God's glory. Humility is a word that everyone should be learned. This reminds me of one of my favorite bible verses...Matthew 5:5 which says "God gives special blessings to those who are humble and sets Himself against those who are proud." With this verse, I think there is nothing wrong if we humble ourselves before God and man.

Bible verse of the day...Jonah 2: 1-2 (NIV)

From inside the fish Jonah prayed..."In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry." Jonah 2:1-2 (NIV)

My reflection of the verse:

Our God is an awesome God. In times of trouble He always rescues me. There were times in my life that I was at the verge of death and I called upon the Lord to help me. Well, He did and He always does. I'm grateful everyday that He is there to give me hope and courage to face what lies ahead of me. However, I'm no longer afraid to face death as long as Jesus is right beside me and leading me the way.
